Mourn
There are many definitions of mourning.
The definition that resonates most deeply with me is one presented by Alan D. Wolfelt, Ph. D. in his book, Understanding Your Grief.
Dr. Wolfelt says that:
mourning is “going public” with our grief in the presence of others.
Mourning is the external expression of grief.
Mourning is a path we can take to healing.
Dr. Ken Moses adds that:
unfortunately, mourning is socially unacceptable.
Many people have a strong desire to get you to STOP feeling, believing that feeling your feelings IS the problem. Nothing could be farther from the truth.
I think we`ve forgotten how to mourn - in our familes, in our communities and in our country.
All of us grieve. Some of us mourn.
It is my hope that you will find this website to be a safe place to mourn...and heal.
