True or false:  "We are disturbed not by what happens to us, but by our thoughts about what happens."  Epictetus, Greek philosopher

Presentation and discussion at
Healing Pathways Men`s Support Group,
lower level of Westminster Presbyterian Church,
2821 N. Bell School Rd, Rockford, Il at 9:00 am

Early 2011
My essay "Permission to Mourn" is included in a new book called "The Creative Connections® for Groups: Person-Centered Expressive Arts for Healing and Social Change” to be published by Science & Behavior books. It is written by one of my mentors Natalie Rogers, PhD., REAT.   Dr. Rogers` book will be available by early 2011 on Amazon.com

I studied Expressive Arts with Natalie in 2004-05 through a graduate certification program offered by Saybrook University.  Dr. Rogers’ feels, “Tom Zuba is authentic, creative, and effective in using his sensitivity as a person-centered expressive arts counselor letting people grieve in their unique way allowing compassion and love to return.  I am delighted to have his essay in my forthcoming book.”

About her book, Dr. Rogers’ says, “Merging the expressive arts – movement, visual art, sound, and journal writing with the philosophy of Carl Rogers’ person-centered approach, opens a gateway for many types of groups to embrace non-verbal methods along with dialogue. Natalie brings life to her unique approach using case material, “explorations”, personal experience and insights from years of facilitating workshops and trainings around the world. Proof of the effectiveness of this approach is the last chapter, “In Their Own Voice” in which former participants, now colleagues, describe their work with a wide variety of groups. . Dr. Rogers’ emphasis: as we awaken our consciousness through the expressive arts we find our strength and our voice to bring about constructive social change. Finding inner peace moves us toward a peaceful world.”
